Originally tarot cards were simply playing cards and tarot was nothing more than a game.

From the 18th century people started using tarot cards for divination purposes and cartomancy became popular. The first person to assign divinatory meanings to the cards was the cartomancer and French occultist Etteilla, in 1783.

Above mentioned 3 steps of tarot reading may help you start it in a best way.

Create your question

Try to ask and carry positive, rather than negative questions and energy.

Don’t ask the same question after receiving an answer for that question, and don’t consult the card too often. Reach out to the cards when you are at a crossroads, when the issue at stake is of great importance, or when you are at an impasse.

Using tarot cards to answer relationship questions is normal. Questions to ask tarot cards about love could include: for example, “How can I improve my relationship with my husband?”.

You can also ask tarot about someone or something else, try to focus the question on your relationship with the person or an issue that concerns both sides.

When reading, you should be in a calm state of mind, as you are a kind of translator. Don’t let your mental state, beliefs and prejudices affect the reading or disrupt the guardian angel’s messages.

Tarot questions could involve many different areas - love, career, family, personal growth, a crisis and more.

Shuffle and lay out the cards

-Handle the cards with left hand

-Mix the cards

-Tell the asker to think about the question while you mix the cards.

-Give the cards to the asker and have him/her mix them while thinking about the question. After that, the asker should put them back in your hands.

-Take the cards in your left hand and place them on the table facing down.

-Ask the person you’re reading for to cut the deck, again focusing on their question.

-Pull as many cards as you need for your spread, arranging them between you and the asker

-Unite the cards back into a single deck.

If you’re reading cards for another person, you’ll ask them to give you a question or prompt what they’re curious about, and hold that question in mind while you shuffle the deck, also known as “clearing” the deck from prior inquiries and readings.

Interpret the cards and answer your question

People feel a little confused when they first hold a tarot deck in their hands. At first 78 cards can seem a lot, but actually you have to know that no one is born knowing how to use tarot cards. We are however all born with intuition. Your intuition may help you in learning how to do tarot reading.

Even if we don't understand all of the symbols, our deeper knowledge makes a connection to the aspects of the cards we most need to see. Of course, time and practice will help you further refine your understanding of the cards' meaning so you can get the most out of the reading.
