Your Adventure Story Pt. I
If you try to catalogue this in a political way, it always seems categorically wrong. Wrong-headed, wrongly worded, politically perversely inverted. It’s a narrative that simultaneously rude but also intimate and inclusive. It puts you off as it beckons you close. It’s bond form with you when you are young. It never goes away. It forms with you in your most vulnerable moments, in your essential fragility that is the characteristic that makes you human. It is the person that you are when you are most human and it is perhaps the person you are when even God is not listening. It is the person the person that you are in the quantum of solace. It is the triumph of silence, it is the dread of technology and dread of technology is the crumbling of science. Standing Idol seems a virtue. Whisper. Speak in hush tones for this is private. Long pause.
What is the adventure story? It is the story of your life told in contrast. It is the great dialectic in the frame of infinite cosmos. What is it about your life that is an adventure? What is it about this night that is different from all other nights? How am I different? (Music queue: Amy Man: “how am I different?”) (Movie queue: Paul Thomas Anderson: “Magnolia”)
I’m damaged. I’m used. I’m bruised and abused. I’ve got trauma to the hilt. I’ve got complexes up my ass. But you know me, I can’t complain. Then, I don’t fully know. Does anyone ever ask you what you really know? Does anyone ever tell you to drink more water? ….Drink more water. Be proud of bruising easily. What do you choose when playing truth or dare? What way do you prefer going? Or coming? Do you really have to answer all the questions that pop into your mind? Which of them help more with your narrative?
